Function
The automatic adjustment adjusts the secondary shoe while driving forwards and the primary shoe while driving backwards. If the brake is not operated, the adjuster is centered by the compression springs (9).
When the brake is operated while driving forwards, the threaded bushes (7 and 12), adjusting bush (8) and adjusting screws (6) are moved to the right.
If a certain axial travel is exceeded, the adjusting pin (5) engages in the next tooth of the adjusting bush (8).
When the braking process is complete, the compression spring (9) returns all moving parts to the initial position again, turning the adjusting bush (8) and the threaded bush (7) connected to it by the driver (4).
Due to the force of the brake shoe return springs on the brake shoes, the adjusting screw (6) is prevented from twisting by the thrust piece (1), increasing the dimension (a) (adjustment). Automatic adjustment while driving backwards is carried out as when driving forwards, only in the opposite direction.
