MODEL 463.202 /222 /236 /237 /270 /271 /303 /340 /341 up to 31.5.12 as of model year 2009 /YoM 08
Manual interior lights control in general
The manual interior lights control allows the interior illumination, reading illumination, vanity mirror illumination and the glove compartment illumination to be switched on and off.
Pressing the switches - some of which are mounted to the housing of the overhead control panel control unit (N70) - applies voltage to the corresponding components.
The manual interior lights control feature consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for interior illumination
^ Function sequence for reading illumination
^ Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
^ Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
Function sequence for interior illumination
The following components of the interior illumination can be manually switched on and off by pressing the corresponding switch:
- Front dome lamp (N70e1) via the dome lamp switch (N70s3)
- Dome lamp (E15) (in model 463.202/303) or rear interior lamp (E15/3e3) (in model 463.236/237/270/271341/346) as well as right trunk lamp (E18/4) and left trunk lamp (E18/5) by actuating the rear dome lamp switch (N70s2)
The front dome lamp and the dome lamp or the rear interior lamp are switched on and off in a dimmed state.
Function sequence for reading lamps
The reading illumination serves to illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect on the driver.
The following reading illumination components can be switched on and off manually by operating the relevant switch:
- Left front reading lamp (N70e2) via the left front reading lamp switch (N70s6)
- Right front reading lamp (N70e3) via the right front reading lamp switch (N70s7)
- Left rear reading lamp (E11/1) (only model 463.222/340) via the switch integrated in the left rear reading lamp
- Right rear reading lamp (E11/2) (only model 463.222/340) via the switch integrated in the right rear reading lamp
- Left rear reading lamp (E15/3e1) via left rear reading lamp switch (E15/3s1) (only model 463.236/237/270/271341/346)
- Right rear reading lamp (E15/3e2) via right rear reading lamp switch (E15/3s2) (only model 463.236/237/270/271341/346)
- Dome lamp by means of the dome lamp switch (E15s1) (on model 463.202/303)
The reading illumination is switched off t = 30 min after circuit 15 OFF or immediately after the vehicle was locked.
The left rear reading lamp and the right rear reading lamp or the dome lamp are switched on and off in a dimmed state.
Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination
The following components for the vanity mirror illumination can be switched on and off manually by folding the corresponding mirror cover open and closing it:
- Left sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/1) via the integrated left front vanity mirror illumination switch
- Right sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/2) via the integrated right front vanity mirror illumination switch
The power supply of the vanity mirror illumination switch is performed via the overhead control panel control unit. The power supply is interrupted by folding back the mirror cover or when t = 30 min have expired following circuit 15 OFF in order to protect the battery (G1).
Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination
^ Circuit 15R On
Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
The glove box lamp (E13/1) is supplied with voltage by the front signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) and switched on by opening the glove compartment lid.
If the rear signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/2) recognizes an undervoltage of U < 9.0 V or an overvoltage of U > 16.0 V, all components of the interior illumination are automatically switched off.
