Electric actuation of actuator motor
The transfer case actuator motor is actuated by the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit (N15/7) over a discrete line with an analog shift signal.
After that the rotor turns as per a force-optimized and distance- optimized characteristic stored in the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit from the initial position into the final position.
After reaching the end position the transfer case actuator motor turns back whereby the clearance of the shift fork to the sliding sleeve is assured. As a result both excessive mechanical wear and an undesirable whistling noise are avoided.
The rotary motion of the rotor can take place in both directions depending on the shift signal.
Shift mechanism
Via the worm gear (2) the rotary motion of the rotor is stepped down, turned through 90 ° and transmitted to the selector drum (3).
A sleeve (4) is mounted on a pin rigidly connected to the shift fork (5). Simultaneously the sleeve (4) is guided in a threadlike continuous groove on the circumference of the selector drum (3).
The shift axle (6) does not perform any movement and is mounted in the transmission housing.
The conversion of the rotary motion of the selector drum (3) into a straight-line motion of the shift fork (5) is therefore possible.
The shift fork (5) is directly coupled to the shift collar which shifts the two gears "HIGH" and "LOW".
