Component Identification:

Location
The lumbar support regulator control unit is installed to the left of center in the corresponding seat backrest frame behind the seat backrest trim.

Task
- Regulation of the air cushion pressures in the two lumbar cushions of the respective front seat
- Storage of the last lumbar contour setting
- Control of the driver lumbar support pump (M25/4) or front passenger lumbar support pump (M25/5)
- Reading in of the voltage-coded driver lumbar support adjustment switch (S109/2) or of the front passenger lumbar support adjustment switch (S109/3)

Reading in of sensors and signals
These input factors are read in via direct connections:
- Circuit 30g (with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) or with code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory)
- Circuit 15R (except code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirror) and except code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory)
- Circuit 31

The following switches are read in via direct lines:
- Driver lumbar support adjustment switch (S109/2)
- Front passenger lumbar support adjustment switch (S109/3)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that are read in are evaluated by the lumbar support regulator control unit. The air cushions in the seat are actuated via valves integrated into the lumbar support regulator control unit.

Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Driver lumbar support pump or front passenger lumbar support pump, to control the compressed air supply.

The air cushions in the seat are actuated via the valves integrated into the lumbar support regulator control unit.

Design
In addition to the intelligent circuit, there is also a pressure sensor accommodated in the housing of the lumbar support regulator control unit. This sensor is used for detecting and monitoring the pressure. The air pressures in the cushions are adjusted by the valves integrated into the lumbar support regulator control unit. The lumbar support regulator control unit is connected to the lumbar support adjustment switch on the seat via the 7-pin connector. It is also connected via this connector to the lumbar support pump and the power supply.
