Wipe stop in general
The wipe stop function serves to ensure that, when the engine hood is opened, the wiper motor (M6/1) is not actuated by the front SAM control unit (N10).

Wipe stop function sequence
If an open engine hood is recognized via the ATA engine hood switch (S62), the corresponding wipe function is interrupted immediately.

The wipe stop function is interrupted at a speed of v > 8 km/h, i.e. the wiper motor is actuated as from this speed again at the speed set at the combination switch (S4). The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module (N80) and transmitted to the engine compartment CAN. The central gateway control unit (N93) transmits this signal to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The instrument cluster (A1) transmits the signal for the vehicle speed to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The open engine hood is recognized by the ATA engine hood switch, read in by the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and transmitted to the front SAM control unit via interior CAN.
