GF46.15-P-2001GM Easy Entry/Exit, Steering Column Adjustment, Function

GF46.15-P-2001GM Easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment, function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)

Function requirements, general
^ Easy entry/exit activated in the instrument cluster (A1)
^ Drive position stored

Easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment, general
In order to facilitate entry and exit, the steering column is adjusted upwards automatically when certain requirements are met.

The function easy entry/exit steering column adjustment is comprised of the following partial functions:
^ Move to easy entry/exit position function sequence
^ Move to drive position function sequence
^ Repeat limiter function sequence
^ Activate/deactivate easy entry/exit function sequence
^ Function abort, function sequence
^ Function sequence for activating crash-active easy exit (as of 1.7.09)

Move to easy entry/exit position function sequence
The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) initiates the entry/exit position under the following conditions:
- Transmitter key removed (A8/1)
- Opening the driver door when:
- circuit 15R
- circuit 15C

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory receives the required information via the interior CAN (CAN B):
- The circuit status from the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73)
- The status of the driver door from the left front door rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/6s1) in the left front door central locking motor (M14/6) to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8)

The steering column is adjusted via the actuation of the steering column up/down motor (M20/2) by the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory.

Move to drive position function sequence
The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory initiates the drive position under the following conditions:
- A change is made from circuit 30 to circuit 15C with the driver door closed
- A change is made from circuit 15C to circuit 15R with the driver door closed
- A change is made from circuit 15R to circuit 15 On with the driver door closed

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory receives the required information via the interior CAN:
- The circuit status from the EIS [EZS] control unit
- The status of the driver door from the left front door rotary tumbler microswitch in the left front door central locking motor to the rear SAM control unit

The steering column is adjusted by the actuation of the steering column up and down motor by the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory.

Repeat limiter function sequence
Alternately inserting and removing the transmitter key will induce a change cycle between moving to the easy entry/exit position and the driving position.

To prevent overload of the steering column up/down motor, the number of requests is limited to five adjustment cycles.

The counter is reset when:
- The transmitter key is turned to circuit 15R
- the driver door is open or closed

Activate/deactivate easy entry/exit function sequence
The easy entry/exit can be activated or deactivated using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) on the steering wheel via the second operating level in the instrument cluster. The corresponding signals of the button groups are transmitted via the steering LIN to the steering column tube module (N80) and from there via the engine compartment CAN (CAN C) to the central gateway control unit (N93).

The information is passed on by the central gateway control unit to the instrument cluster via the interior CAN.

Function abort, function sequence
Steering column movement is aborted if the following events occur:
- under voltage or over voltage
- Adjustment request by:
- Steering column adjustment switch (S59) (without code (443) Steering wheel heater)
- Steering column adjustment up/down, in/out switch (S59/1s1) in steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (with code (443) Steering wheel heater)
- a current memory adjustment
- Status change of circuits in the EIS [EZS] control unit or the driver door
- Hall sensor defect

Function sequence for activating crash-active easy exit (as of 1.7.09)
The steering column is automatically placed in a fixed, defined position after the occurrence of a crash.

The crash signal is routed from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) via the engine compartment CAN to the central gateway control unit and from this to the interior CAN. Thereupon the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory actuates the steering column up and down motor.

The steering column is always moved upwards in the event of a crash event.
