Location
The rear-end door closing control unit is located in the right rear of the spare tire well.

Task
The rear-end door closing control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN

Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in via a direct line:
- Liftgate opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16)
- Left liftgate closing obstruction sensor strip (B86/1)
- Right liftgate closing obstruction sensor strip (B86/2)
- RWTS button (S62/26)

Interior CAN
The following signals are read in via interior CAN:
- by the left front door control unit (N69/1)
- Status of driver side rear-end door open/close switch (S15/3)

- From the rear SAM control unit (N10/8)
- Status of rear-end door handle switch (S88/9)
- Status of spare tire carrier open switch (S151/2) (on model 164.1/8 with code (849) Spare tire carrier/spare wheel)

- from instrument cluster (A1)
- Vehicle speed signal Opening angle limitation status

- from EIS [EZS] control unit (N73)
- Circuit status c. 15

- from Central gateway control unit (N93)
- Variant coding

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

The following components are actuated with a direct line:
- liftgate closing warning buzzer (H4/60)
- Liftgate hydraulic pump (M51/1)
- Rear door locking unit (A72)
