GF88.79-P-2002GM Fold Left/Right Outside Mirror, Function
GF88.79-P-2002GM Fold Left/right Outside Mirror, Function
- with CODE (500) Folding left/right outside mirrors
- as of model year 09
Function requirements, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ No other mirror adjustment function active
Function sequence for folding down outside mirror, general
The outside mirror housings can be folded in and out electrically in pairs. This can be done both automatically as well as manually. If circuit 15R is switched off during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is nevertheless completed.
If a new housing adjustment request is recognized during an active housing adjustment, the housing adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.
The outside mirror fold down function comprises the following partial functions:
^ Manual folding in/out, function sequence
^ Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
Manual folding in/out, function sequence
Manual folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Manual folding in function sequence
^ Manual folding out function sequence
Additional function requirements for manually folding in
^ C. 15R On
^ Vehicle speed v < 47 km/h
^ Last actuation was folding out
The status of c. 15 is transmitted by the EIS control unit (N73) via the interior CAN. The speed signal is transmitted by the instrument cluster (A1) via the interior CAN.
Manual folding in function sequence
S20/1s9By pressing the outside mirror fold in/out switch in the driver power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group, the outside mirror housings can be folded in (garage position).S20/1
The adjustment request of the outside mirror fold in/out switch is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) via the front door LIN and is transmitted to the right front door control unit (N69/2).
The left front door control unit actuates the power folding mirrors motor (M21/1m3) the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) and the right front door control unit actuates the power folding mirrors motor (M21/2m3) in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).
Additional function requirements for manual fold-out
^ C. 15R On
^ Last actuation was folding in
Manual folding out function sequence
The two outside mirror housings can be folded out (drive position) when actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch. The signal flow and the actuation are the same as when manually folding in the outside mirror housing.
Additional function requirements for automatic fold-in/out
^ Function activated in instrument cluster
Automatic folding in/out, function sequence
Automatic folding in/out comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Automatic folding in
^ Automatic folding out
Additional function requirements for automatic folding in
^ C. 15C OFF
^ Outside mirror housings folded out
Automatic folding in function sequence
When the vehicle is locked with the central locking system (CL [ZV]) from outside with the transmitter key (A8/1) both outside mirror housings are folded in automatically.
The CL status is transmitted by the EIS control unit to the left front door control unit and the right front door control unit via the interior CAN. They cause the outside mirror housings to fold in as described for "Manual fold-in".
Additional function requirements for automatic folding out
^ Outside mirror was folded in automatically
^ CL open
Automatic folding out function sequence
The next time the driver or front passenger door is opened, both outside mirror housings are folded out automatically.
The status of the doors is recognized via the left front door rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/6s1) and via the right front rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/5s1). The rear SAM control unit (N10/8) reads in the signals and transmits them to the left front door control unit and right front door control unit via the interior CAN.
The door control units receive the status and cause the outside mirror housings to fold out.
The signal flow and the actuation are the same as when manually folding in the outside mirror housing.
If the outside mirror housings are still folded in with c. 15R ON, the outside mirror housing are folded out immediately.
