Transfer case oil supply, general
The oil supply system ensures that the transfer case components are supplied with sufficient oil.
Transfer case oil supply, function sequence
The rotor-type oil pump (3) supplies the following rotating components with lubricating oil via cross-bores in the input shaft (1):
- Central differential module
- Clutch pack
- Planetary gear set
- Input shaft mounting (2)
The rotor-type oil pump (3) is located in the front of the transfer case's transmission housing and at a high rate of flow it can generate high oil pressures.
The output shaft bearing (6), v on the front axle output flange (5) and chain (4) are supplied with sufficient oil by running through the oil sump. Metal abrasion and shavings are collected by a magnet (7) integrated into the rear transmission housing (8).
Rear axle oil supply
The oil is fed to the rear axle by an oil sump lubrication system.
