Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)

Direct line
The following components and signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via a direct line:
- Interior air temperature sensor
- Tilting/sliding roof switch (model 463.222/340 and model 463.236/237/341 with code (D27) Electric tilting /sliding roof)
- Tilting/sliding roof (M12/1) (model 463.222/340 and model 463.236/237/341/346 with code (D27) Electric tilting/sliding roof)
- Rear dome lamp switch
- Dome lamp switch
- Left front reading lamp switch
- Right front reading lamp switch
- SOS push-button switch
- Interior protection transmitter and receiver (A26/5) (with code (FZ8) Anti-theft alarm system with interior protection)
- Inside rearview mirror unit (A67)
- Rain sensor (B38) and light activation sensor (B32/1)
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
Moreover, the following switches are read in via a direct line in model 463.202/303:
- Soft top operation switch (instead of tilting/sliding roof switch)
- Left rear soft top locked switch (S84/1)
- Right rear soft top locked switch (S84/2)
- Left front soft top unlocked switch (S84/3)
- Right front soft top unlocked switch (S84/4)

Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluating input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Control of systems
The overhead control panel control unit actuates the following systems:
- Interior illumination (IBL)
- Tilting/sliding roof (in model 463.222/340 and model 463.236/237/341/346 with code (D27) Electric tilting/sliding roof)
- Dimming of inside rearview mirror and outside mirror on driver side
- Soft top (in model 463.202/303)

Voltage supply to components
The following components are supplied with voltage by the overhead control panel control unit:
- Rain sensor and light activation sensor
- Left sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/1)
- Right sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/2)
- Inside rearview mirror unit
- Interior protection transmitter and receiver
- Front dome lamp
- Left front reading lamp
- Right front reading lamp
- Left rear reading lamp (E11/1) (model 463.222/340)
- Right rear reading lamp (E11/2) (model 463.222/340)

Actuation of components
The components are actuated via direct lines.
The overhead control panel controls the following integrated components directly:
- Front dome lamp
- Left front reading lamp
- Right front reading lamp
Moreover, the following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Left rear reading lamp
- Right rear reading lamp
- Left sun visor with illuminated mirror
- Right sun visor with illuminated mirror
- Inside rearview mirror unit (dimming)
- Electric power soft top motor (in model 463.202/303)

Looping through signals and information
The read-in signals of the following components are provided via interior CAN to other control units:
