ME-SFI ignition OFF, function sequence
For ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine control is switched off in the ME-SFI [ME] control unit.
If the ME-SFI [ME] control unit receives the signal "circuit 15 OFF" via the circuit 15 relay (N10/1kP) the engine is stopped through switching off the fuel injection valves (Y62) and the ignition coils:
- Cylinder 1 ignition coil (T1/1)
- Cylinder 2 ignition coil (T1/2)
- Cylinder 3 ignition coil (T1/3)
- Cylinder 4 ignition coil (T1/4)
- Cylinder 5 ignition coil (T1/5)
- Cylinder 6 ignition coil (T1/6)
- Cylinder 7 ignition coil (T1/7)
- Cylinder 8 ignition coil (T1/8)
and the computer power down is started.

Computer power-down is determined by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and lasts about 5 s. It can, however, last for some minutes due to various functions (such as On-Board Diagnosis (OBD), Drive Authorization System Stage 3 (FBS 3), thermal management).

When computer power-down is complete, the engine circuit 87 relay (N10/1kR) is deenergized and the engine control is disconnected from the on-board electrical system (switched off).

When the ignition is OFF, the ME-SFI [ME] control unit is supplied with power from the battery through "circuit 30 fused".

System tests are conducted by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit during the computer power-down and the fault memory is updated.
