TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: October, 1984 REF. NO. 15/26

SUBJECT: SPARK PLUGS WITH COPPER CORE

Spark plugs with a copper core have been installed since January 1984 production. These spark plugs can be identified by the letter C (Bosch and Champion) or U (Beru) in the designation, for example:
Beru 14-7DU
Bosch W7DC
Champion N9YC

IMPORTANT: Previously used spark plugs continue to be applicable. New version platinum spark plugs are not approved by the factory.

For your convenience, a new spark plug chart is available, listing all currently applicable manufacturers and their respective part numbers, as well as electrode gaps. The standard spark plugs which were in use up to the introduction of the copper core plugs are listed for reference only; they are no longer distributed by MBNA.

NOTE: The part no. 102 159 07 03 for a set of Bosch H 8 DC plugs (engine 102) is not available. Use part no. 002 159 58 03 for a single plug instead.

Available charts may be ordered from the Technical Publications Department.
