Cooling Capacity Test
NOTE: All tests made should be taken after 10 minutes of constant operation. All control values are maximum values and should not be exceeded. Control values are for testing done from +20°C (68°F) to +40°C (104°F). The vehicle should not be exposed to direct sunlight before or during testing.1. Connect manifold gauges to suction and pressure service valves.
ACC Push-Button Control Panel:
Receiver Drier Sight Glass:
2. Start vehicle and push function selection "c" and run engine at idle. Observe sight glass (1) in receiver drier after a/c compressor clutch engages. Refrigerant flow should be free of bubbles shortly after system engages. If refrigerant is insufficient (bubbles in sight glass), fill system. If more than 200 grams is needed, leak test system.
3. Open center nozzles, left, and right side vents.
4. Attach a thermometer for outside air temperature (ambient air temperature) approx. 2m from driver's side.
5. Place a hygrometer into storage tray of center console.
6. Place thermometers into center nozzle and left side vent.
7. Open window, close vehicle doors and engine hood.
8. Turn temperature dial (3) to "MIN" and blower switch (5) to (f) 6th stage.
9. Run engine at approx. 2000 rpm for approx. 10 minutes.
Pressure, Temperature, Coolant Temperature Chart:
LEGEND
1) = Reative Humidity
Ta = Outside Temperature (°C)
A = Air Outlet Temperature (°C)
B = Pressure Before Compressor (bar)
C = Pressure After Compressor (bar)
D = Coolant Temperature (bar)
10. Read data on thermometers, pressure gauges, and hygrometer and compare with values on table.
11. Check cut-out temperature of Evaporator Temperature Regulator (ETR) by insert thermometer into center nozzle.
12. Push blower switch (h) 1st stage and push-button "c" and run engine at approx. 2000 rpm.
13. After 3rd cutout of compressor clutch, the outlet temperature should be approx. +4°C (39°F) but not less than +3°C (37°F).
NOTE: If cooling capacity is insufficient or outlet temperature is below +3°C (37°F), check capillary tube of ETR switch (29) for correct assembly (slit into guide tube up to red mark) or replace ETR.
