Vacuum Circuit 4 (Center Nozzle Flap)

NOTE: Ignition is OFF.

1. Remove left cover under instrument panel.
2. Remove optional switch.
3. Remove optional switch cover.

ACC Defroster Vacuum Element With 3&4-Point Distributor And Check Valve:

Switchover Valves ACC:

4. Pull red/black vacuum line from switchover valve (13) for center nozzle flap and connect to vacuum tester.
5. Evacuate to approx. 400 mbar (12 in. Hg) vacuum and watch vacuum gauge.
If reading on tester changes, test vacuum element (40).
6. Remove glove box.
7. Disconnect vacuum line to vacuum element (40) and connect vacuum tester to element.
8. Evacuate to approx. 300 mbar vacuum (9 in. Hg) and watch tester gauge.
9. If reading on tester changes, replace vacuum element (40). If tester remains constant, replace vacuum line as required.
10. Install cover for optional switch.
11. Install optional switch.
12. Install left cover under instrument panel.
13. Install glove box.

LEGEND
13 = Switchover valve for center nozzle flap
38 = 2-stage vacuum element for defroster nozzle flaps (flaps "open")
40 = Vacuum element for center nozzle flap (flap "open")
44 = Throttle (orifice)
45 = Check valve (arrow = flow direction)
49 = 4-point distributor
50 = 3-point distributor
