Sunroof / Moonroof: Testing and Inspection

Possible Remedies to Complaints:

Complaint: Sliding roof motor not running.

Cause/remedy:
1. Check fuse N 16 (16A), replace if required.
2. Check sliding roof switch, replace if required.
3. Check cable harness for sliding roof drive, replace if required.
4. Check electric motor with gear unit, replace if required.

Compliant: Sliding roof not opening and closing, electric motor running.

Cause/remedy:
1. Slip coupling/clutch slipping, emergency crank drive not rotating along with electric motor running. Adjust slip clutch. Sunroof / Moonroof Clutch
2. Sliding roof cover hard to move or binding.
a) Remove sliding roof cover.
b) Clean slide rails, slide strips and slide shoes and grease with Anticorit PRC II.
c) Adjust sliding roof free of play, that is, sliding shoes should have lateral contact and sliding roof should be seated accurately in center of cutout. Since the sliding roof frame has limits with regard to overall width, the lateral clearance should be checked at several points.
d) Adjust height of sliding roof cover.
3. Control cable hard to move.
Remove control cable, check for damage and renew, if required.
4. Control cable distorted in tubing, replace tubing.
5. Gear unit of sliding roof drive defective. Renew drive motor with gear unit.
