Removal and Installation

NOTE: The clutch with support, the belt pulley and the magnet coil all form one assembly. If one part of this assembly must be replaced, the complete assembly must be removed.

Removal
1. Remove compressor. SEE A/C Compressor. Service and Repair

A/C Compressor W/Pipeline Installed:





Pressing-off Plate Installed:





2. Attach holding device to compressor and clamp into vise. Remove screws (8 and 21) and pipeline (7) from compressor (1). Then close opening by means of pressing-off plate.

A/C Compressor Inverted:





3. Loosen compressor from holding device and retighten with drive shaft in up position.

Spring Plate Holding Wrench Installed:





4. Prevent spring plate (2) from rotating with holding wrench, remove nut from shaft using 14mm socket.

Spring Plate Disassembly Tool Installed:





5. install disassembling tool into hub. Tighten center screw until spring plate is removed.
6. Take out key in shaft.

Refrigerant Compressor Clutch Assembly Lock Ring:





7. Take out ring (5). Mark position of magnet coil terminals.
8. Insert guide piece over shaft on headpiece of compressor.

A/C Compressor Clutch With Puller Installed:





9 Pull off assembly with puller.

Installation

Compressor Clutch Installation:





1. Place clutch assembly on housing cover. Before pressing assembly completely down, make sure the magnet coil terminals are in the correct position in relation to compressor and the three projections on the back of magnet coil are in correspondence with the recesses in housing cover.
2. Insert lock ring (5) for the assembly.
3. Clean friction area of spring plate and clutch.

A/C Compressor Spring Plate Installation:





4. Insert key (4) into groove of hub protruding out by about 5 mm.
5. Put spring plate on shaft in such a manner that key and groove are in alignment.

A/C Compressor Spring Plate Assembly Tool Installed:





6. Place spacer on spring plate. Insert assembling tool through spacer and screw assembling tool to shaft end.
7. Secure hex. head of tool and screw-in the central screw until there is a play of approx. 0.5-1 mm between the friction areas of the spring plate and the clutch.
8. Take out assembling tool and spacer.

9. Install new nut on shaft (smaller diameter of nut toward shoulder of shaft) and tighten to 13 Nm. Check play once again.
