C.Repair/Replacement of Damaged Refrigerant Compressors
For details of oil filling capacity, removal and replacement of compressors and flushing of system, refer to Service-Microfilm-System.FIGURE 7:
York Refrigerant Compressor
1. Always install a suction strainer (Figure 7) into suction port (Figure 8) during repair and replacement of this type of compressor.
2. Strainers are available as separate spare parts.
3. A strainer is included in the valve plate/head gasket kit and with a new compressor.
4. With a new compressor also replace the receiver-dryer.
5. Always replace the expansion valve, if compressor had broken internal parts. Do not replace expansion valve if compressor is replaced for other reasons.
FIGURE 8:
6. Refrigerant lines connected to compressor may be reused if suction strainer is installed and lines are flushed clean (Figure 8).

IMPORTANT:
1. When replacing compressors of this type due to seizing (broken internal parts), also replace the connected high pressure and suction lines (Figures 9 and 10).
NOTE: This prevents future compressor damage from particles lodged in old refrigerant lines that remain even after flushing.
2. Always replace expansion valve and receiver dryer when replacing a compressor that had broken internal parts.
