A. Models 201.028/029 With Manual Transmission Driveshaft On Vehicles Equipped With Tandem Mass Flywheel
As of September 1989 production, vehicles with a tandem mass flywheel are equipped with driveshafts with and without vibration dampers and modified flex discs.
In case of customer complaints regarding vibration or humming, check if the proper driveshaft version is installed. On model 201.028 a vibration damper (133 mm diameter) must be installed on the transmission side of the driveshaft flange.
A vibration damper must not be installed on model 201.029.
B. Models 124 And 201 Marking On Driveshaft Flange
As of January 1990 production a new additional marking is applied to the three-armed flange (small arrow, Fig. 1). The vibration damper is balanced with the driveshaft in the indicated position. The driveshaft and vibration damper form one unit and must therefore always be replaced together.
