C.Match Points

Match points are used to reduce vehicle vibration at highway speeds caused by out-of-roundness. The tolerance for vertical or radial runout (out-of-roundness) is 0.8 mm (see also S.I. 40/56, May 1986).

Mercedes-Benz production and replacement rims have been marked with match point as of the dates listed in the table below.

The tire is properly installed when the match point (arrow) on the rim of the light alloy wheel (Fig. 1) and the match point on the tire (Fig. 2) are closest to one another (i.e. the tire/wheel assembly then has minimum runout).
