Seat - Front Backrest Frame Spring Modified

SUBJECT: MODIFIED FRONT SEAT BACKREST FRAME SPRING ADDITIONAL SPRING MODIFICATION-ORTHOPEDIC BACKRESTS ONLY MODEL 126


As of model year 1984, due to the introduction of the power front seats with memory function, a modified spring has been installed in the center of the spring core of the backrest frame.

When ordering a backrest frame as a replacement, only the modified version is available. The modified version may be installed in vehicles prior to model year 1984.

NOTE: Only for vehicles built prior to model year 1984, and equipped with orthopedic backrests, the following backrest frame modification must be performed.

Procedure

1. Cut the center spring in the middle (arrow) as shown in Figures 1 and 2.

2. Proceed by bending the new ends of the spring and fastening them to the vertical springs with one clamp each, part no. 123 914 03 53 (arrows, Figures 3 & 4).

NOTE: This modification will assure trouble-free operation of the orthopedic padding on models equipped with orthopedic backrests.
