Stripped Cylinder Head Bolt Threads In Crankcase

Cause / Remedy:
If stripped cylinder head bolt threads are discovered during cylinder head removal or installation, Heli-Coil threaded inserts, part No. 000 997 58 15 should be installed for all cylinder head bolts of the cylinder bank concerned.

An angular drilling machine with a chuck suitable for drills with 10 mm dia. should be used for threads with difficult access to avoid engine removal. See "Reconditioning Threaded Holes, For Cylinder Head Bolts". Service and Repair
