Nippondenso A/C Compressor

NIPPONDENSO A/C COMPRESSOR

Oil Capacity
Oil type:
Refrigerant oil (for approved refrigerant oils refer to specifications for service products)
Initial oil fill in A/C compressor:
120 cm3

When repairs are carried out on the A/C system, the amount of oil in the system is to be corrected according to numbers 1 to 3 as required.

1. When repairs are performed or with slow leak of refrigerant
Recharge with refrigerant:
- Up to 400 g. (no leaks found)
do not replenish compressor oil
- System to be recharged completely and receiver dehydrator (dryer) replaced
20 cm3 new oil
- Replace A/C compressor and receiver dehydrator (dryer)
- Drain oil from removed a/c compressor and measure quantity. Also drain oil from new compressor:
same amount as from old compressor and add an additional 10 cm3 (for receiver dehydrator) into the new compressor (oil drained from the old compressor can be reused).
- Repair A/C compressor (e.g. front shaft seal) and replace receiver dehydrator (dryer). Then slowly discharge refrigerant (vacuum side)
and fill 20 cm3 new oil into the compressor

2. System suddenly empty (e.g. line broken in accident)
Replace defective component and receiver dehydrator as described in numbers 1 to 3, including specified oil quantity:
- And add an additional 40 cm3 of refrigerant oil.

NOTE: After evacuating (approx. 30 minutes) add approx 200 g. R 12 refrigerant to the air conditioning system and check for leaks. Then discharge refrigerant again (recycling) and evacuate once again (approx 15 minutes). Then charge the system with the specified quantity of refrigerant and test air conditioner operation again.

3. Replacing components:
- Replacing condenser: 20 cm3 new oil
- Replacing evaporator: 40 cm3 new oil
- Replacing dryer: 10 cm3 new oil
- Vacuum line from evaporator to compressor and pressure line from compressor to condenser: 10 cm3 new oil each

Checking and Correcting Oil Level in A/C Compressor
A/C Compressor:
- Remove And Reinstall

If the A/C compressor is replaced, the oil from the removed compressor should:
- Be allowed to drain while the compressor is held with the pressure and vacuum openings pointed down. The oil should be allowed to drain from the pressure and vacuum openings for approx. 10 minutes. The draining process can be accelerated by repeated rotating of the input clutch (shaft).

From the new A/C compressor:
- Also allow the oil to drain.
- Determine how much oil has drained from the old A/C compressor and the pipes.
- Add the same amount of oil to the new compressor through the vacuum opening, then add a further 10 cm3 for the new dryer.
- When the A/C compressor is required, (e.g. front shaft seal) replace the dryer and add an additional 20 cm3 new oil to the compressor.
