Oil Pump: Service and Repair


The oil pan for the 603 engine has an additional side pan mounted on the right hand side to increase oil capacity.



1. Remove engine noise shield.
2. Drain oil from engine.
3. Loosen engine shock absorber (mount) to crossmember attaching bolts.
4. Remove engine stop and bracket assembly.
5. On models with RPM sensor, disconnect RPM sensor electrical connector from oil pan.
6. Disconnect ground strap from transmission.
7. Remove engine carrier front engine mount attaching bolts.
8. Loosen right and left torsion bar ends from side member.
9. Install suitable engine lifting equipment onto front engine eye.
10. Lift engine enough to facilitate oil pan removal.
11. Loosen oil pan attaching bolts, then remove oil pan from vehicle.
12. Loosen oil pump attaching bolts, then remove oil pump from engine.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Torque oil pan to crankcase M6 attaching bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Torque oil pan to crankcase M8 attaching bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
