EGR Valve

EGR valve test:
a. With the engine off, connect a vacuum tester to the EGR valve and apply about 300 mbar of vacuum.
b. Disconnect the vacuum line. The EGR valve should snap closed audibly.
c. If not, bench test the valve as follows:
1. Remove the EGR valve and apply approx. 520 mbar of vacuum.
2. Valve should open fully (approx. 5 mm).
3. Pull off the vacuum line, and the valve should snap closed audibly.
4. If the EGR valve fails any of these tests, replace it.
