Fuel Pump Volume Test

1. Install TDC impulse transmitter and connect engine analyzer.
2. Locate the fuel return hose that runs between the fuel filter and fuel return tubing. Disconnect the return line at the fuel return tubing end. Hold end of hose into measuring container.
3. Connect a remote starter switch to the positive battery terminal and circuit 50.
4. Hold engine STOP lever down with an extension to prevent the injection pump from injecting fuel. Crank the engine for 30 seconds.
a. The pump should deliver 150 ccm minimum in 30 seconds.
b. If it does not, replace the fuel filter and repeat the test.
c. If the fuel pump still fails the test, replace the fuel transfer pump.
5. If engine still does not start, loosen a high pressure injection line at the injector. Crank engine and check for escaping fuel. If no fuel escapes, have the fuel injection pump serviced at a Bosch Service Center.
