Fuel Rack Position Sensor
Fig. 38 Fuel Rack Position Sensor Connector Terminal ID:
1. With the engine off, turn fuel rack position sensor safety sleeve counterclockwise. Disconnect the sensor connecter at the injection pump.
2. Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2 and between terminals 1 and 3, Fig. 38. Readings should be between 23 and 27 Ohms. Check resistance between terminals 2 and 3. Reading should be between 46 and 54 Ohms. If resistance is not within specifications on any of the three checks, replace the injection pump. If the sensor passed all tests, proceed to step 3.
3. With engine off and ignition in the run position, check the voltage between terminals 1 and 2 of the sensor connector. If voltage reading is 10 volts, circuit is good and the testing is complete. If the voltage is not 10 volts, proceed to step 4.
4. Check for and repair any open circuits. If all circuits are good, replace the EDS control unit.
