1. Check resistance of the coolant temperature sensor by measuring the resistance between the sensor terminal and ground. The resistance should be measured at two temperatures. See chart in Fig. 51 for resistance values. If the values are ok, go to step 2, if they are not, replace the coolant temperature sensor.
2. Check the voltage at the coolant temperature sensor connection. If voltage is 5 volts, circuit is good and the test is complete. If the voltage does not equal 5 volts, check for and repair any open circuits. If all circuits are good, replace the EDS control unit.
