Oil Pump: Description and Operation

Timing chain:

The gear type oil pump is mounted in the crankcase and is driven by the crankshaft through a single roller chain. The oil pump drive chain is tensioned by a tensioning rail and spring. The oil pump can be replaced after the oil pan has been removed. When installing drive sprocket to oil pump shaft, position convex side of sprocket toward oil pump.
