CHANGES TO MERCEDES-BENZ MAINTENANCE SYSTEM
A. Extended Inspection Service Interval, Model Year 1992 Vehicles
As of Model Year 1992, the Inspection Service interval (First Service) has been extended from 800-1000 miles to 800-3000 miles.
This Inspection Service Interval change applies to all Model Year 1992 vehicles, both gasoline and diesel.
Note:
Approximately 1500 early production Model Year 1992 vehicles of various models were produced with the previous break-in oil filter. These vehicles retain the 800-1 000 mile Inspection Service interval. These vehicles are identifiable by the Inspection Service schedule included in the maintenance booklet, and the 800-1 000 mile interval sticker on the driver side A-pillar.
B. Lubrication Service Intervals, Model 140.134 (3OOSD)
The Lubrication Service interval for the Model 30050 (140.134) is every 7500 miles, compared to the unchanged interval of every 5000 miles for the 300D 2.5 (124.128).
With this change. the Lubrication Service intervals are the same for model 140 turbodiesel and gasoline engine models.
C. All Models M.Y. 1986 - M.Y. 1992
Changes To Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System
Several revisions to the M-B Maintenance System have affected maintenance jobs specified for model year 19S8 to model year 1992 vehicles. Also, new recommended Maintenance Service Labor Times were established. See latest Time Guide for up to date information.
Maintenance service (every 15,000 miles/24,000 km)
Maintenance job no. 4050 - Wheels: dismount mount; Rims: check condition, inspect inside for dirt accumulation; Rotate if necessary - now applies to all models and is no longer classified as a "On request" item for models 24. 201.
Maintenance job no. 4252 - Disc brakes: check and clean - is no longer part of the maintenance service. Replacement of brake pads, which was included in this operation, is now performed at an extra charge to the customer during the maintenance service if inspection shows replacement is necessary (except when covered under warranty or the Maintenance Plus' program). When referencing labor time in Time Guide. select labor time for performing lob with wheels removed since maintenance service already includes dismounting/mounting of wheels (job no. 4050).
As a reminder. please note that the latest edition of the Maintenance System sheet (form no. S-2374-E91) supersedes any previously published information on specified maintenance lobs including the maintenance booklet supplied with the vehicle. Always refer to the very latest edition of the Maintenance System sheet for maintenance requirements. This form can be ordered via MB-NET in the usual manner.
Please Note:
The recommended labor time for the Maintenance Service (every 15.000 miles has been increased for model 140.057 (600 SEL) to 3.2 hrs. (previous 2.9 hrs.).
When submitting a claim for the model 140 Maintenance Plus program. this additional charge of 0.3 hrs. can only be applied at the 15.000 and 45.000 mile service. The 30,000 mile service total labor time already reflects this increase.
This change becomes effective with repair order date 11 1591.
