Removal and Installation of Electromagnetic Clutch

Tightening Torques

Screw carrier to cylinder head M 1O x 30 30 ± 3.0 Nm

Screw compressor to holder M8 x 90 2O ± 2.5 Nm

Nut M8 to compressor shaft 16 ± 1.0 Nm

Special Tools

Holding wrench for spring plate 126 589 01 40 00.

Puller for spring plate 126 589 06 33 00.

Bearing assembly parts 126 589 06 43 00.

Self-made Tool

Bearing mandrel (turned part), not required for assembly with manually operated lever press.

Note: Bores and screws with metric threads; hose connections with inch threads as before.

a) Spring Plate

Removal

1 Remove V-belt. Service and Repair





2 Position holding rod for spring plate and loosen nut.

Attention! Refrigerant system remains filled.





3 Loosen four fastening screws (arrows) from refrigerant compressor on holder.





4 Place refrigerant compressor on tube or the like as assernbly aid (arrows).





5 Screw puller into spring plate and pull spring plate from compressor shaft.

Installation





6 Place spring plate on compressor shaft and tighten nut.





7 Check gap dimension and correct with spacing washer.





8 Fasten refrigerant compressor with four fastening screws (arrows) on holder.

9 Install V-belt. Service and Repair

10 Check air-conditioning system for function.

b) V-belt Pulley

Removal

1 Remove V-belt. Service and Repair

2 Remove spring plate (refer to a).

Attention! Refrigerant system remains filled.





3 Place refrigerant compressor on tubing or the like as an assembly aid (arrows).









4 Remove locking ring in front of V-belt pulley (arrow) and knock out V-belt pulley with plastic hammer.





5 Renew antifriction bearing, if required. Remove locking ring in front of antifriction bearing (arrows).





6 Force out antifriction bearing with special tools (arrows).

7 Force in new antifriction bearing with special tool.

Installation

Attention! If the same V-belt pulley is again installed, clean friction surface of pulley. If friction surface shows damage, e.g. from overheating, renew pulley together with spring plate.

8 Mount V-belt pulley and install locking ring.





9 Place spacing washer and spring plate on compressor shaft, tighten nut (arrow).

10 Check gap dimension and correct with spacing washer, if required.

11 Install refrigerant compressor. Service and Repair

12 Check air-conditioning system for function.

c) Magnetic Coil

Removal

1 Remove V-belt. Service and Repair

2 Remove spring plate and V-belt pulley (refer to a and b).

3 Remove locking ring in front of magnetic coil and remove coil.

Installation

Attention! Tapered surface of locking rings should be front end.





7 Mount magnetic coil (fitted pin) and install locking ring (arrow).

8 Install V-belt pulley (refer to b).

9 Place spacing washer on compressor shaft and mount spring plate (refer to a).

10 Install refrigerant compressor, V-belt and tensioning roller. Service and Repair

11 Check air-conditioning system for function.
