SUBJECT:
INSTALLING SPLASH GUARDS TO PREVENT BELT SLIPPAGE
MODEL 124 WITH ENGINE 103

NOTE:
This S.I. and attached W.I. contain updated installation, parts and time allowance information. Please discard your copy of S.I. MBNA 83/22 and W.I. # 207.

The A/C compressor has a speed sensor which can detect belt slippage, which can be caused by water splashing onto the single belt drive. When slippage is detected, a signal is sent to the control unit resulting in the A/C compressor clutch disengaging.

The compressor clutch will reengage when the ignition switch is turned off and then on again.

In case of customer complaints regarding the ACC system not functioning properly after driving through water, splash guards can be installed as described in the Work Instructions # 207A as shown.
