C. Temperature Sensors

Layout in-car temperature sensor
1 In-car temperature sensor up to 06/81.

The in-car temperature sensor (1) is located below a grille at the top of the instrument panel (up to 06/81) or in roof frame (starting 07/81).

It senses the interior temperature and transmits this to the electronic switching unit (9) to compensate for any change to the selected temperature. An air jet nozzle (47), mounted on the blower housing, draws air out of the interior via the in-car temperature sensor when the blower is running. This reduces the response time of the sensor and increases control accuracy.

The two temperature sensors (6 and 7) for the left-hand and righthand sides of the heat exchanger are located in the heater housing.

They transfer the respective air temperature from heat exchanger to electronic switching unit for temperature control.
