Cleaning, Sealing Oil Galleries In Head

1. Remove cylinder head.
2. Remove camshafts.
3. Remove bucket tappets.
4. Unscrew screw plugs (26) with seals
5. Knock out steel balls (25) in oil galleries (22), (23), (33) and (34) with round bar (6) diameter 6 x 700 mm from the front (Figs. B and C).
6. Pry out plug (32) with a screwdriver (Fig. C).
7. Widen oil galleries (22), (23), (33) and (34) at rear to 9 x 8 mm diameter deep.
8. Knock in steel balls (25) at side with a punch (8) into oil galleries (22) and (23) (Fig. D).
9. Knock out steel balls (25) from front with round bar (6). widen diameter.
10. Widen oil galleries (35) and (36) at side 9 x 8 mm diameter deep.





11. Tap in M10x1 thread in oil galleries (Fig. E).
12. Carefully clean oil longitudinal galleries and all holes.
13. Reface the bolt head contact surface at oil galleries (35) and (36) at side.
14. Coat new plug (32a) around circumference with Loctite high strength 270, 002 989 93 71 10, or equivalent. (Fig. E).
15. Knock in new plug flush with suitable drift (Fig. E).
16. Screw in screw plugs (26a) to 15 Nm (Fig F).
