Exterior Trim - Rear License Filler Retrofit

SUBJECT:
SUBSEQUENT INSTALLATION OF REAR LICENSE PLATE FILLER PANEL MODEL 124 (EXCEPT T-MODELS)

If a customer requests the subsequent installation of the license plate filler panel on his prior to M.Y. 1991 vehicle, follow the installation procedure below.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove trunk lid interior cover (M.Y. 1990 only)

2. Remove license plate and license plate bracket.

3. Remove trunk lid grab handle.

a. two screws from outside





b. six nuts with washer and seal from inside (Figure 1)

4. Remove E-clips from lower edge molding and then remove molding with a plastic wedge.





5. Install modified trunk lid grab handle (A, Figure 2) using existing screws, nuts, washers and seals.





6. Install lower edge railing into previously painted (for refinishing procedure, see Refinishing Manual section 1.20) license plate filler panel (arrows, Figure 3).





7. Insert upper edge of license plate filler panel behind trunk lid grab handle and push pins on railing into holes in trunk lid (arrows, Figure 4).
