A. Modified Trim Plate for Inside Door Handle, Model 124

In the course of technical improvements, a modified trim plate for the inside door handle was installed with additional clips and locking tabs (arrows, Figure 1).

Note:
After the stock of the old trim plate is exhausted, only the new trim plate will be supplied. The part number was not changed.

Replacement Procedure
Removal and installation of modified trim plate

1. Using a plastic wedge, push between trim plate and door hand grip (arrows) and pull out trim plate at rear (Figure 2).

2. Push trim plate forward and disconnect front (arrows). Remove trim plate (Figure 3).

3. For installation, reverse removal procedure.

B. Additional Cover for Door Check Strap, Models 124, 126 and 201

Beginning July 1989 production, a cover was added for the door check strap on all doors on models 124 and 201, and on the front doors on model 126. This prevents the grease from being washed out as well as dirt from entering.

The cover can also be installed subsequently.

Note:
When retrofitting the doors with the door check strap covers, lubricate the ball guide tracks with MB-lubricant, part no. 001 989 14 51 prior to the installation of the covers (Figures 4 and 5).
