Special Tools
Removal, Installation:
1. Discharge air conditioning system (recycling).
2. Remove a/c compressor.
3. Remove spring plate.
4. Use a screwdriver to pry out dust seal (arrows).
Installation Note: Insert dust seal with the open side upward.
5. Place key driver on the compressor shaft and rotate one half turn to the left.
6. Pull out key and remove.
7. Remove circlip (52).
Installation Note: Use key inserter 126 589 01 35 00 to install.
The tapered surface of the circlip must be toward the front.
8. Insert assembly tool for sealing plate and push holding ring (arrow) down as far as the mark. Pull out sealing plate (53) and remove from the tool.
Installation Note: Ensure that sealing plate is installed in correct position; coat 0-ring (arrow) with refrigeration oil.
9. Insert assembly tool for shaft seal, press, turn to the right and extract shaft seal.
Installation Note: Attach new shaft seal to assembly tool and coat with refrigeration oil. After inserting shaft seal, remove assembly tool by turning to the left.
Caution!
- The shaft seal on the clutch side of the a/c compressor is supplied exclusively as a complete unit and must be installed as such. Never install new and old components together.
- Freshly installed shaft seals should not be removed immediately simply due to a small amount of leakage. The carbon ring is lapped together with the inside of the sealing plate. The seating will improve once the shaft seal is run in.
10. Install in reverse sequence.
11. Install spring plate.
12. Allow refrigerant vapor to flow in at service valve (arrow). A bottle or charge cylinder pressure of more than 4 bar is required.
13. With the a/c compressor in its installed position, turn the shaft through several rotations by hand.
14. Use leak detector to check a/c compressor for leaks.
15. Close valve on service unit/charge cylinder again and remove hose from service valve.
16. Install a/c compressor.
17. Replace receiver dehydrator.
18. Correct oil level, adding an additional 10 cm3 new oil to the compressor.
19. Evacuate the air conditioning system and refill it. Check operation. Procedures
