Figure 1:

As of August 1989, an additional angle bracket is welded to the left and right front frame rails (arrow, Figure 1).

This changes the repair method for front end repair as described in service microfiche Body Accident Repairs 1, job no. 62-125.

Figure 2:

If the front frame rail is damaged up to the angle bracket, then the complete wheel housing or frame rail must be replaced. If just the front section of the frame rail is damaged, then the disassembly point must be forward of the stabilizer bar mounting plate (dotted line, Fig. 2)

Figure 3:

Only the modified frame rails or wheel housings with additional angle bracket are available as a spare part, and are identifiable by the three weld points (arrow, Fig. 3).
