Convertible/Roll Bar - Hydraulic Unit Modifications

As of August 1992 production of model 124.066 and April 1993 production of model 129, a revised soft top/roll bar hydraulic unit is installed. The main valve (A7/5y1) has been eliminated on the hydraulic unit (pump), part no. 124 800 23 48. The previous hydraulic unit (W/O main valve) is no longer available as a replacement part.

The revised hydraulic unit (pump) may be installed in models prior to production phase-in, however, in model 129, the soft top control module must be replaced with a revised version as well. Replacing the pump without replacing the control module will lead to operational problems when removing/attaching the hardtop. (Hardtop will sink after being raised off body.)

Note:
With the elimination of the main valve, the soft top fabric bow and soft top compartment cover will be pulled down slightly by their latches with hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic unit. This will occur when operating the roll bar with the power soft top switch or roll bar switch and should be regarded as normal operation (not a fault).
