Radiator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Raise hood to vertical position.
- Open expansion tank cap to release pressure.

Warning:
Do Not open pressure cap until coolant temperature is below 90°C (194° F).

- Remove bottom engine compartment panel.





- Drain coolant at radiator by fitting a hose (inner diameter 12 mm) onto the connection (arrow) and unbolting drain plug.
- Drain coolant into a suitable vessel (approx. 4 liters).
- Detach coolant hoses from the radiator and from the coolant pump.

If Equipped With Automatic Transmission:





- Unbolt automatic transmission oil lines (arrows) at bottom of radiator.
^ Tightening Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft lbs)

- Pull air scoop off air filter.





- Remove fan cover ring (2) by withdrawing locking pin (1) and turning ring to the left.
- Place ring on the fan.





- Remove strut (1), unbolt radiator support (2) and place to the side with hood cable connected.
- Unscrew line at bottom of radiator mount.
- Raise air conditioning condenser together with auxiliary fan.
- Withdraw flat springs upward and lift radiator up out of the rubber grommets of the crossbar.
- Remove fan cover from radiator.
- Install in reverse order paying attention to the installation notes.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
- Fit on (stick on) both rubber mounts on bottom of condenser.
- When installing radiator, raise condenser and insert into tabs on radiator.
- The mounting studs of the radiator must be inserted into the rubber grommets of the crossbar or bracket.
- While installing the fan ring insure the four engaging points are correctly located.
- Fill cooling system and bleed.
- Check and adjust automatic transmission fluid level to correct level.
