Removing and Installing Chain Tensioner
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
Removal
1. Remove viscous fan clutch.
2. Remove poly V-belt.
3. On models 124, 129 and 140, unbolt air pump (22), swivel to the side with lines/wiring connected,
4. Cover over generator with cleaning cloth.
5. On model 202, disconnect ground cable at battery.
6. Remove air cleaner top part.
7. Unbolt generator, place to side with wiring connected.
8. On all models, slacken screw plug (1) approximately one turn.
9. Unbolt chain tensioner complete.
CAUTION: If the chain tensioner housing (14) has been slackened, it must be taken off as the thrust pin (10) is locked with the detent spring (9) in the pressure direction.
10. Unscrew screw plug (1) with seal (5).
11. Remove filler pin (7) and compression spring (8).
12. Press out thrust pin (10) with detent spring (9) in chain tensioner housing (14) in pressure direction.
Installation
1. Install chain tensioner housing (14) with seal (15) and tighten to 80 Nm.
2. Insert thrust pin (10) with detent spring (9), compression spring (8) and filler pin (7).
3. Screw in screw plug (1) with new seal (5) and tighten to 40 Nm.
NOTE: Stick seal (5) onto screw plug (1) with grease.
4. Run engine and check for leaks.
