Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
Air conditioning system
drain (recycle), evacuate, charge and check for leaks.
Fan cowl
remove, install.
Air breather
remove, install.
Engine compartment covering, bottom section
remove.
Poly-V-belts
release tension and remove.
3-pole connector (A9x1)
disconnect.
Bolt (14)
screw out, tighten to 23 ±2.3 Nm.
Bolts (7)
screw out, tighten to 23 ±2.3 Nm and remove refrigerant compressor downwards.
Connections plug with dummy plate (a) part No. 601 131 00 21
Before installing new compressor, release pressure slowly at service valve (arrow).
Oil level in refrigerant compressor
correct. New refrigerant compressors are filled with 120 cm3 of refrigerant oil (see Specifications for approved refrigerant oils).
O-rings (18)
renew, if refrigerant compressor is not renewed.
Reinstall
in reverse order observing the following: If the refrigerant compressor has been renewed due to internal damage (e.g. seizing or damage to the valve plates), the pipeline on the compressor and the extension valve must also be renewed. Moreover check the auxiliary fan for proper function and proper direction of rotation (clockwise) via the 20 bar switch and coolant temperature sensor (A/C) (B10/8).
Fluid reservoir
renew.
Air conditioning system
evacuate and recharge.
Air conditioning system
switch on and allow engine to run at idle for approx. 4 minutes.
Check air conditioning system
for proper function and leakage, while assuring that the air exit temperature at the center nozzles does not exceed +5 °C, renew evaporator temperature sensor, if required.
