Certain basic Mercedes Benz test equipment or equivalent will be necessary to carry out tests outlined in this section. The use of incorrect test equipment may result in damage to the CIS-E system components or the test equipment used. If the Mercedes Benz socket box is not available careful backprobing of the CIS-E control unit harness connector will be necessary. Furthermore, it may be necessary to partially disassemble the connector; care must be taken to prevent damage to the wiring and individual pin connectors
