Radio - Post Warranty Repair Program

ALPINE POST-WARRANTY FACTORY DIRECT REPAIR PROGRAM

Mercedes-Benz of North America, Inc. has authorized Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. (AOA) to administer a post-warranty radio repair program. Authorized M-B dealers may at their sole discretion, submit radios with expired warranties directly to AOA for repair.

The following is an outline of the program:

Purpose

1. Provide M-B customers with the best possible post warranty radio service at a reasonable cost.

Scope of program and eligibility

1. All out-of-warranty vehicles equipped with Alpine radios and/or CD changers, starting with M.Y. 1990, are eligible for this repair program.

2. Radios and CD changers covered include 1990 to 1995 versions.

3. Units which are physically damaged beyond the point of reasonable repair, or liquid damaged in any way will be returned unrepaired.

4. Units without a legible serial number will not be repaired.

5. Cables, brackets and other accessory parts are excluded.

Service Procedure

1. General:
The M-B dealer determines that the radio or CD changer is defective and out of warranty.





2. Procedure:
^ The dealer shall tag the component using the Alpine Post-Warranty Return Tag (S-2655-096), a sample copy is shown (Figure 1). Include a DETAILED explanation of the customer complaint on the return tag and retain the dealer copy of the return tag for your records.





Repair fees including Return Shipment

^ The dealer shall package the component to ensure that there will be no shipping damage en route to Alpine. Please provide a check for the total of the repair including return shipment amount determined from the chart shown.

Returns

1. If the Unit:

^ Is physically damaged beyond reasonable repair,

^ Is liquid damaged in any way,

^ Does not have a legible Serial Number,

^ Requires a part which is no longer available,

^ Does not contain the appropriate payment,

^ Does not contain a description of the customer's contention,

The unit will be returned unrepaired and a full return shipment amount refund is issued within 15 business days. Should the no trouble found (NTF) submissions exceed 5% from any dealer, Alpine reserves the right to impose a handling fee of 50% of the flat rate, following notification by Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

Warranty

1. All Alpine radio repairs shall be warranted by AOA for 90 days from the date-of-repair. This warranty shall cover both parts and labor.

2. The warranty will be limited to those functions of the unit which are related to the original complaint.

Program Changes

1. This radio repair program may be changed and enhanced at any time by both MBNA and AOA subject to prior consent. Changes would be announced to the M-B dealer body in due time.
