Remove/Install Cover Below Instrument Panel (Left)

Screws (1, 2)
Screw out (5 each).

Plastic screw (3) in footwell
Screw out (1 each).

Cover (4)
Remove together with cover (5) in footwell, for this purpose disconnect plug for footwell light

Separate from cover (5). Observe repair note!

Cover (5)
Install.The arresting bolt on the steering column must be inserted into the eye on the cover (5, arrow) and fastened with plastic screw (3) on the side.

Plug for footwell light
Connect.

When installing the cover (4)
First attach air hose (6) to heater box, then insert into holding clamp on outside (arrow).

Cover (4)
Connect to cover (5) and fasten.


Repair note





The cover (4) was modified beginning approx. 04/92 (start of production for E60).
Simultaneously the installation position of the plug connector on the ignition lock was turned upward 180°.






If the modified cover, part no. 129 680 07 88, is installed on previous vehicles, it must be reworked. For this purpose cut off the shaded area (arrow) with a knife or saw blade.

Use up previous covers, part. no. 129 680 27 87, on vehicles on which the plug connector for the ignition lock points downward (arrow).
