Roll Bar: Adjustments



Preliminary work:
Hard top remove (Owner's Manual)
Baggage shelf removed. Service and Repair
Paneling in rear compartment removed.
Occasional (rear) seats removed. [1][2]Procedures
Observe safety regulations. Service Precautions






Perform adjustment work in order specified


NOTE: If the roll-over bar has been removed or replaced in the course of repair work it must be readjusted.

After completion of the adjustment work check the system for proper function (roll-over bar should actuate). Testing and Inspection


Adjustment





1 Screw in screws on center pillar at upper left and right (do not tighten).

2 Screw in screws on support elements at bottom left and right on longitudinal member (do not tighten).
3 Put down roll-over bar with convenience switch.

NOTE: Hydraulic lines must be connected.

Clearance between top compartment cover and roll-over bar

4 Adjust roll-over bar in relation to top compartment cover (clearance) and center pillar (height).
5 Tighten screws on center pillar at upper left and right (80 ± 5 Nm).
6 Push right support element up on longitudinal member (angled plane), until the contour is flush with the top compartment cover (items 2, 4).
7 Tighten screws (42 ± 5 Nm).
8 Perform crash actuation test.
9 Push support element on left up on longitudinal member until console contacts uniformly (not under tension).
10 Tighten screws (42 ± 5 Nm).
11 Test system for proper function. Testing and Inspection

NOTE: If readjustment work is required after testing the roll-over bar system (adaptation to body), the entire adjustment procedure must be repeated.
