Seats: Service Precautions

NOTE:
- Working on magnesium parts with an open flame (welding, cutting, burning, heating, etc.) as well as mechanical grinding with tools producing sparks is prohibited.
- Do not attach additional parts to the seat.

Observe the following notes to prevent corrosion to the chromated and black enamel finished extruded magnesium parts:
- Protect seat against moisture and salt.
- Repair damaged points in enamel finish on seat frame with black combination enamel, part no. 000 986 47 33. Do not use zinc dust paint. Repair scratches only.

Do not repair finish damage or corroded spots and do not carry out large surface repair for corrosion protection reasons.
- To prevent contact corrosion at the screw connections paint screw shanks and contact surfaces with enamel after disassembly or replace screws.
- Factory-installed plastic bushings and washers must not be removed and damaged parts must be replaced.
- Repair damaged threads in magnesium die-cast parts only with aluminum helicoil thread inserts approved by Mercedes-Benz (M4-M8) due to the extremely high contact corrosion.
