Checking Rear of Engine For Leaks While Running

Transmission 722.3





- Flex (driven) plate removed.
- Clean rear of engine.
- Spray dried surrouunding area with Mercedes-Benz white contrast spray, part No. 000 989 03 59.
- Check oil level in engine. Adjust to correct level.
- Install Flex plate with ring gear.
- Bolt starter with bracket (1) to crankcase, special tool 119 589 00 40 00.
- Engine in installation position: support at rear and secure.
- Automatic transmission: bridge contact at starter lockout switch (S16/3) (arrows).
- Start engine, check for leaks.

NOTE: Stored faults which may originate from testing work involving disconnecting wiring or simulation, must be erased in the fault memory after completing work.
