Engine - Upper Timing Chain Guide Rail, Removal Tool

Special Tool For Removal Of Upper Timing Chain Guide Rail
Engine 119

The removal of the upper timing chain guide rail requires special tool 119 589 01 63 00, which allows the clips of the rail to be released without damage.

Procedure:

Figures 1 And 2:




1. The comb (B) must be inserted between upper and lower section of guide rail (2a) in direction of arrows, to release upper 4 clips of the rail.

Figures 3 And 4:




2. Pull up rubber gasket (2b) so that removal tool (A) can be inserted into both grooves of the guide rail.
3. Guide the two spring tabs (6) of the removal tool (A) between (arrows) the lower catches (7) and the retaining tabs (8) (Figure 3).
4. Press removal tool (A) vertically down into the two grooves (left and right arrows at bottom) until upper part of guide rail pops up.
