Removing and Installing Chain Tensioner



Preparation
- Right cylinder head cover removed. Service and Repair

Procedure





- On Model 210: remove air cleaner housing, install.
- Position piston of cylinder 1 to 45° before ignition TDC (arrow).
- Fix right exhaust camshaft in position with pin, Special tool 111 589 03 16 00 (01), (arrow) so that the exhaust camshaft does not jump across when timing chain is relieved.
- With mechanical secondary air injection or model 129 with engine 119.960: slacken poly V-belt and take off from air pump (6). generator, fit on. Service and Repair.
- Model 129 with engine 119.960: unbolt generator, bolt on.
- With mechanical secondary air injection: unbolt air pump (6) and place to the side with piping connected.
- Models 124, 140 with mechanical secondary air injection: unbolt bracket (7) of air pump or generator, bolt on
Tighten to: 25 Nm.
- Model 210 with electric secondary air injection: remove electric air pump together with bracket, install.

NOTE: Unbolt guide pulley and EGR valve at bracket for this step.

- Slacken bolt (8) and nut (9), tighten evenly
Tighten to: 25 Nm.

CAUTION:
- Engine oil which flows out must not get into the generator.
- Chain tensioner (4) must not be tilled.

- Remove chain tensioner (4) together with gasket (5), fit on.
- Gasket (6) replace.
- Run engine and check for leaks.
- Tighten the following to:
Bolt and nut of chain tensioner: 25 Nm
Bolts of air pump bracket: 25 Nm
Guide pulley to air pump bracket (with electric secondary air injection): 30 Nm
