Ignition Rotor: Service and Repair

13 High voltage distributor rotor
14 Follower
14a Follower slot
15 High voltage distributor cap
17 Cover

WARNING: Hazard as a result of high voltage. Live parts of the ignition system conduct high voltages. Do not touch any live parts when the ignition is switched ON, when cranking the engine by hand or with the starter, or when the engine is running.

CAUTION: See instructions for avoiding damage to the ignition system described in "Original Equipment Manufacturer's Warnings" at Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings.

Hood (18):





1. Remove Cover (18).
2. Slacken hexagon socket screws and take off high voltage distributor cap (15).
3. Slacken screws and take off high voltage distributor rotor.

NOTE: High voltage distributor rotor has been modified:
- Since 7/91 distributor rotors with stiffening ribs have been installed.
- This reduces the risk of fractures and high voltage arcing.

4. Examine O-ring, replace if necessary.
